Fable 3 Easy Way To Get Money

With a new Fable game finally on the horizon, which will thankfully still be as lighthearted as the first three games, now is the perfect time to look back at the often-neglected entry in the series, Fable 3. The third entry might not have been as critically acclaimed as Fable 2, or as in-depth as Fable 1, but it still holds a special place in the hearts of its players. It has, arguably, the best first half of any of the main series games, and its second half allows you to literally become the Queen or King of Albion, making decisions that will greatly affect the physical landscape of the game.

Of course, becoming the overlord of a kingdom in disrepair is not going to be a walk in the park, and the main downside to enacting your power fantasy is the cost of keeping it all going. In order to get the best ending to the game, and save the majority of the population, you will need to start saving those pennies, and there are only a few tried and tested ways to make money quickly.

7 The Blacksmith Job Makes The Most Money

Jobs are a familiar and welcome contribution to those of us who played the previous fable games. As with most things in Fable 3, Lionhead Studios simplified the job system and stripped back the number of jobs you can partake in. There are now only three jobs for the Hero to earn money with. They are:

  • Blacksmith
  • Lute Hero
  • Pie Making

Of the three that are still available, the blacksmith job is by far the best way to make money quickly and easily. It makes slightly less money on the gold multiplier bonus compared to the others but only requires you to press two buttons for the entire minigame. Be sure to invest in this job's upgrades on the Road to Rule to maximize the amount of money you can make, and feel free to ignore the others.

6 Buy Up All The Property You Can

Having constant income every five minutes is ideal and necessary to get the best ending, and owning all the property in Albion is a great place to start. By earning money playing the job minigames, you will have enough to begin purchasing the cheapest houses in the Dweller camp - an early game location. This will give you a nice little passive income, and allow you to purchase more expensive housing as you earn more.

From there you should try to purchase every house you can afford, and then rent them all out to tenants, thereby earning thousands of gold every five minutes by doing absolutely nothing. Eventually, you will own all available property in Albion and earn a fortune in rent. Makes you want to become a landlord, doesn't it?

5 Prioritize Shops When Purchasing Property

You will quickly realize that prioritizing shops and taverns when purchasing property is vital. These buildings do not have to be repaired as their condition never deteriorates, which can be great if you're the type of person who can't be bothered to repair your housing properties, as you will be able to earn rent money regardless.

They are all significantly more expensive than the housing, however, so a good way to get started is to purchase the stalls that can be found in most locations in the game world. The added benefit of prioritizing shops and stalls is that you will be able to get discounts on any of the goods they sell.

4 Set The Rent To The Highest Amount Possible

When you purchase property, one of the quickest ways to make money quickly, is to set the rent to the highest level possible. This means you will be earning 200% of the standard gold you would usually get. If done with a high amount of property, you will be earning far more than the property is actually worth, and will find your treasury beginning to overfill with gold.

Now, before you follow this piece of advice, it does come with this warning:

Setting the rent to the highest level possible is going to make a lot of people hate you very quickly.

However, you will earn a huge amount of money incredibly quickly, providing you own lots of property. This will affect your morality in a negative way, making you far eviler than is possible in standard play, so, for good-aligned characters, should only be done when absolutely necessary.

Of course, you could argue that all this evil is for the greater good, as Fable 3 gets a lot darker in the second half of the game, and you'll need all the money possible in order to combat the Darkness before it consumes Albion.

3 Play The Game As Often As Possible

The passive income system in Fable 3 is a bit of a double-edged sword, on the one hand, it provides a nice bit of gold while you engage in the main storyline and its side quests, allowing you to spend time actually playing the game, rather than simulating property management. On the other hand, you only receive this money while you are playing the game, as opposed to Fable 2 which lets you earn money even when you aren't playing.

Gone are the days of Fable 2 when you could just leave the game for weeks at a time and come back to an overwhelming amount of wealth. In Fable 3, if you want to achieve a similar result, you will need to leave your Xbox or PC running, letting the rent money come through in real-time. It's not all bad though - you could probably go outside while you wait.

2 Enter The Sunset House Demon Door

The Demon doors in the Fable series are a strange bunch. Some might only open if you approach them while demonstrating terrible fashion taste, while others will refuse entry if you are not entirely good or evil.

One such demon door will only open if you are the Queen or King of Albion, and so can only be opened in the second half of the game, after you betray your brother and take his throne.

Once inside, however, you will find a chest containing one million gold. It's a nice bit of money just to say thank you for becoming a tyrannical overlord.

1 Remember To Repair Your Property

One of the most annoying things about property management is when your tenants tell you that you need to repair their homes. Rent income is directly tied to the condition of the home - the lower the condition, the lower the amount you'll earn from it.

Keeping on top of this and making sure to repair your property regularly, will ensure you are earning the maximum amount of money possible. Even an evil landlord needs to find some time for home repair - people just won't pay to live in squalor anymore.
